From Spectator to Stallholder: Our First Auckland Food Show

From Spectator to Stallholder: Our First Auckland Food Show

This time last year, bēgood. Nutrition didn't exist yet. We were standing in the crowd at the Auckland Food Show, wondering - quietly, half-jokingly - whether one day we might be on the other side of a stall.

Fast forward twelve months, and the Food Show team reached out to ask if we'd like a booth in the Farro Artisan Village. Honestly? Our first instinct was that it felt a bit ambitious. We didn't know if we had the volume, the supply chain, or the experience for something that size.

So instead, we entered a competition to win a stand - mostly on a whim - and put it out of our minds.

The Twelve-Day Sprint

Then, in the middle of the school holidays, the phone rang. Congratulations, you've won. Can you be ready in twelve days?

We said Yes without hesitating.

The next twelve days were a blur - long days in the kitchen making bar after bar, sorting marketing materials, printing t-shirts, figuring out what a Food Show booth even needs, and rallying a small crew of people to help us pull it off.

When the doors opened, our stand wasn't the flashiest one there. But it was ours, it was beautiful, and we were proud of every part of it.

Four Days, Hundreds of Conversations

Over four days we met more people than we could count - customers, industry folk, other small NZ brands. We heard from people managing coeliac disease, parents looking for something genuinely good to put in their kids' lunchboxes, and people just tired of reading ingredient lists full of things they didn't recognise. More than a few said "thank you" ... and that got us, every time.

Why We Do This

That's exactly why bēgood. Nutrition exists. By day three we were running on fumes and barely had a voice left. It didn't matter. It was completely worth it, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Made in NZ. Built to bēgood.
